Picture yourself back in the times of 1190, as an assassin with bad-ass reflexes and the ability so see like an eagle, would you really complain about this? Apart from the on going war with the Templars, life couldn't be better for the assassins. The majority of this game is played as a member of the Assassin Order from 1190 called Altair (then some long, weird ass middle and last names), the other parts are played in the year 2012 as a character called Desmond who the whole story of Assassins Creed rotates around.
You start playing as Desmond, who has been kidnapped by a company called Abstergo. Abstergo want to use Desmond to extract vital information from his ancestral memories about ancient pieces of 'Eden' that possess a ridiculous amount of power. The put him into a machine called the 'Animus' which is able to access the memories of his ancestors to find the information they need to get.

It is through the Animus that you are able to access the memories of Altair to help get Abstergo what they want (Although, you're not aware of what they want). You start by watching Altair escape from death from Templars but witness the death of some of his comrades, which is then blamed on him. So he falls to the bottom of the Assassin Order, but his leader Al Mualim gives him a chance to redeem himself by killing the leaders of the Templars. With no choice to agree, he leaves his hometown to travel around Jerusalem, Acre and Damascus searching for the Templar leaders.
The physics of this game are like nothing seen before, with the free running, climbing up buildings and assassinating/killing tempars and guards, all of these things make the game what it is, and it is amazing. You also have use of a Hidden Blade, which is attatched to the wrist and extends making it easier to kill people unnoticed. You also have the use of daggers, swords and throwing knives which make killing enemies endlessly fun as you have so many ways to kill them.

The health in-game is a genius way of showing the connection between Desmond and Altair, and it is called 'Synchronization' if you completely lose you're health (Synchronization) you lose connection to Altair's memories and it is game over. There is also something called Eagle Vision and when used it can show friends, enemies, objectives and citizens which greatly helps game play and helps you around the cities.
The only thing I was disappointed with was the fact that at times the game felt really repetitive and I just felt like I was doing the same thing time after time after time. But the story line was still really good despite this and still remains one of the best around. The game play is also pretty good but felt like it was lacking something but i'm not sure what, it just felt it could have been better and for these reasons i'm going to give the story line and game play a 8/10.
The graphics were actually pretty good for a game of this size and the time it came out which I believe was 2007 but they still could have been better and there was times they lacked a bit. However, the few cut scenes there was, they were really good graphics. I give the graphics a 9/10.
At the time, this was a truly amazing game, and it is very outdated now and there are plenty of sequels and spin-offs (which i'll review sometime) which are much better in every way. However, back to Assassin's Creed, it is really good and certainly worth playing once. I think in second hand game shops it is currently going for around £5 - £10 so its certainly something you shouldn't miss!
But anyways, that's my review on Assassin's Creed, hope you enjoyed it and let me know what you think of it. Also, what would you rate this game? Until next time, cheers! - Derry
